A surreal image is an image that has "the disorienting hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic." This image was done through photoshop with many different photos, filters, custom brushes, and settings. Over 30 layers were made in this project and it came out very nice in the end. The tutorial link is: http://www.photoshoptutorials.ws/photoshop-tutorials/photo-manipulation/surrealistic-room-photo-manipulation/ if anyone wants to do it themselves in photoshop.

These glitch photos were taken through 2 different ways. One of the ways was to directly edit and filter the photograph through photoshop by just playing around with filters, brightness, and etc. The other way was to go through the code of the picture by opening it through textedit and directly editing the photo through there by copying and pasting text, deleting text, and adding random text. Above are the glitched photos. The dog and piano photos are the ones where the code is edited, the rest were edited through photoshop. Below are the original photos.
Adrienne Adam is a fine art travel/environmental photographer. She got an education at the U.S. Air Force School of Photography in Denver, Colorado and she has also volunteered for the Earthwatch institute and many other volunteer programs relating to the environment or wildlife. Because of this interest in the environment and art she decided to become a travel/environmental photographer. Using texture, repetition, pattern, motion, and etc, she is able to create many distinct, creative, unique, realistic and unimaginable photos. These photos show that amazing things are out there and there is still so much more to see and explore. Hopefully, these photos encourage others to be as dedicated to the environment as Adrienne Adam is and maybe give another perspective on nature and life.
This projects purpose was to find any natural letters in the environment and take pictures of them and then arrange them to look like your name. As for my name, I took pictures of multiple letters for the alphabet letter below with only 13 of them being an actual letter and the rest being objects that look like the letters. I then took all of the letters and, one by one, cropped them in Adobe Photoshop and put them in an Adobe Illustrator to arrange them as they look for the alphabet project below. I then took the 4 letters of my name out from the alphabet project and arranged them to form my name in a separate Adobe Illustrator file.
At first, this was just a picture of me. But after putting it in photoshop and adding a filter and adjusting the color, I got a picture of this. I then traced the picture onto a big piece of paper using a projector and painted over it with multiple different shades of the color used. The color was first black and I mixed it with white top change the value and hue and it got lighter and lighter so I could have a nice gradient. In the end it turned out like this and I think that I have done a good job with it but if I were to do it again I would be more careful with painting as I made mistakes that were non-erasable.
Throughout the year, many works of art and photography have been produced. The art and photography classes main goal was to make many works and then reflect on them to make oneself a better artist or photographer through trials, errors, and success. As I made took pictures and made multiple artworks on different programs, I reflected on these and asked if I learned anything helpful, what skills I used, and if I would ever want to re-visit the project to improve it. Out of all of my projects though, the ones I most reflected on and connected with were the Elements and Principals of Art project, Core Values and Beliefs poster, and the Realistic, Abstract, and Non-Objective photographs.
The Elements and Principals of Art project explained the elements of art and the principals of design. The elements of art are the basic building blocks of art and photography. These ingredients of art and photography were: line, shape, form, color, value, texture, and space. The principles of design though are the tools to make art and organize the elements by using: rhythm, movement, patter/repetition, variety, balance/symmetry, emphasis, proportion, and contrast. By using these elements and principles, it was assigned that I needed to take 8 pictures using each one of the elements and principles. Through taking these pictures of various things and matching them with elements and principles, I was able to learn these building blocks of art for future use in Photography and art works. Almost every year, every student taking a digital art class makes a Core Values and Beliefs poster for the entire school by using skills in Adobe Illustrator. The poster is a display of the rules, expectations, and beliefs for the school and is meant to set a role model for students. Accompanying these beliefs on the poster, are colorful artworks made in Adobe Illustrator that might or might not relate to the school. In my project I drew the school logo and added in the values and beliefs. In order to actually produce these artworks though, certain skills had to be known or learnt. These included many skills learned in past years which included the pen tool. Using the pen tool, gradient, custom text, and many other tools, I was able to complete a very well constructed poster in my opinion, although I would go back and edit it to try and add a bit more detail and pictures in the background if I had the chance. Another project that taught necessary skills for photography and art was the Realistic, Abstract, and Non-objective photographs. These photographs explained the difference between realist, abstract, and non-objective artworks. Realistic art is a visual art that shows and depicts realistic people, places, or events. Abstract art shows realistic depictions, but in a different way or different view by transforming the realistic object into an entirely new thing after altering the colors, shapes, or lines. Finally, non-objective artworks are arts that have no relation to anything realistic at all and are just created using the elements and principals of art. From this project I was able to learn about the difference between all these types of artworks and photos and, due to creating my own types through photographs, I was able to find out how to use filters to make realistic, abstract, or non-objective photographs. After this year, I have learned many important skills and information in order to progress through my life as a photographer and even an artist. Learning these skills from projects like the Elements and Principals of Art project, Core Values and Beliefs poster, and the Realistic Abstract and Non-Objective photographs, I believe that they were necessary, fun, and resourceful for the future. In the future though when Semester 2 comes into view, I would like to explore more and different areas of photography. I want to learn more about light photography, forced perspective photography, the butterfly effect photography, and even more. So looking forward to Semester 2, I hope that I can learn much more and gain skills that I did not know about before to be a better photographer and artist. This project took 2 words or 3 separate words and used them to describe pictures of be described by pictures. Depending on the pictures or words, each separate square could be seen in a different point of view.In this POV, I used the words Bore and Amuse to describe a book and a computer. This was done because depending on who the person is, someone may find computer boring and books amusing or vice versa. For this project, I took these 12 projects and did 4 of them using different skills relating to Photoshop. For the Holiday Mashup, the only skill was to take 2 pictures and cut and merge the two pictures together to create an entirely new picture that had a famous painting and some kind of holiday spirit mixed in. The literal interpretation was similar in which it took 2 pictures to make an entirely new picture that would make a literal interpretation of a word. The Bad Mail was again the same kind of skill in which you would create a new picture with 2 separate pictures. The something sliced though, I used the slicing tool and a quick selection to make the hershey bar darker and lighter to make it seem like dark, milk, and white chocolate. For this project, I took a picture of myself and pictures of a bunch of things that I liked or were important in my life and I put them into 1 background picture. So after taking a photo, I took pictures of my friends, my dog, my camera, my computer, my piano, a pencil, japanese sweets, some japanese letters, and a pencil and edited it to fit into the background. When editing, I had to completely edit out and erase the backgrounds of the pictures and then place them in the background where they might fit, I would then edit the hues or color and make it transparent if needed.
The paper lantern was made through Adobe Illustrator with the pen tool. This paper lantern uses light modulation to create unique shadows and shapes. I decided in Adobe Illustrator to use the basic X and + patterns, but then I added some diversity by adding the isosceles triangle-like pattern on every other X or +. I then printed the lantern and then used a X-acto knife to cut the shapes and then bend them to make the unique shapes that they had. I then took a quick picture in a dark location of the paper lantern while it was flat. After taking some photos, I stapled the lantern so it would make a cylinder-like shape and I shined a lamp in different directions and places around and inside the lantern to make shadows as I was taking pictures. This is how everything turned out and I really like the unique shadows that were made during this light modulation project. This project required two self portraits or "selfies" that were taken in a mirror or reflective surface. The first one created showed both my camera, and I in the reflection of a board in the school. Similarly, the second photo also showed both my camera, and I but instead through 2 mirrors The Core Values, Beliefs & Learning Expectations are standard expectations and rules of Millis High School. This poster was made for the school using the expectations and Adobe Illustrator's pen tool. It was made to look like an older school logo in which is looked like a banner like this with 4 different pictures in each box instead of the expectations (the expectations are below the photo). MILLIS HIGH SCHOOL CORE VALUES, BELIEFS, AND LEARNING EXPECTATIONS
The Millis High School family fosters the intellectual, personal and social growth of all its learners. This is accomplished through a challenging program of experiences, both shared and personalized. Our respectful, safe, inclusive and caring school works collaboratively with the parents and the community to best support the academic and personal growth of all students. We challenge them to develop increased understanding of themselves as citizens in a global society. Our scholastic program, enhanced by co-curricular activities, engages all learners in their pursuit of academic excellence. We strive to empower students as they become self-directed, respectful, responsible and civic-minded individuals. 21ST CENTURY LEARNING EXPECTATIONS Academic Competencies Communicate effectively through writing, speech and other media. Read, observe, and listen for understanding and to develop a point of view. Enhance problem-solving strategies through collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Access, utilize and gain confidence in using evolving technologies to enhance learning, understanding, and expression. Social Competencies Maintain our school’s culture of integrity, empathy and mutual respect. Civic Competencies Exhibit active citizenship that embrace the values of our school and society. Realistic, abstract, and non-objective categories make up the world of photography and art. These three basic types of visual art will always be present in any work, no matter what it may be. Realistic is the form in which the arm form tends to represent something specific that is in the real world or represent realism. Abstract is an art form in which it takes realistic subjects and present them in different and unique ways to make an abstraction. Non-objective though is an art form that is not based on anything from reality and uses the elements and principles of art to make art works. My
This is a famous photograph taken by an unknown photographer in 1832. Its original purpose was a publicity shot for Rockefeller Center, but it ended up being just a famous photo that shows the workers, conditions, city, and more back in the mid-eighteen hundreds. After a bit of thinking and editing, I ended up making this photo a meme for photography class.
Yearbooks can be a symbol for the school and for the students and are a very important part of a high schoolers life. It provides memories of the past years in the freshman to Senior year and in the future, people are usually very glad they got the book to their younger years. In this project we used many different programs like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create a template for the 2014-2015 Millis High School yearbook. I used many different techniques like adding the paintbrush stroke effect to the lines on the sides to add uniqueness as well as shading the logo independently, choosing a custom font called Colleged from dafonts by imagex and also adding the gradient in the background to add a bit of texture. In my opinion I think this cam eout very well and if I could improve upon this then I would probably add something more on the background or borders.
These shadows were taken by placing a model of a straw hat down on its side and then taking a lamp with a strong light and after many re-positioning and picture-taking, the end product was this. The second one was taken by placing glasses on a piece of paper and position a light so that it made a reflection and shadow. The clock was unable to be moved so I just positioned the light and took the pictures.
The elements and principles of art are define as the "building blocks" or "ingredients" of art. There are many different varieties of the ingredients or elements & principles of photos, like movement or line, and every photo has at least 1 element and 1 principle in the photo. Combined together in a photo, they give off great detail and they show us how the elements of art interact with the principles of design, therefore giving off a great photo.
American Photography has many genres including Art, Photography & War, Digital Truth, Presidential Image-making, Advertising & Persuasion, Social Change, and Cultural Identity. These genres or categories of photography, each have their own specific meaning and all photographs can fit into one or two of these genres. The definition of these genres are:
This is a bell found in a Japanese temple and the bell can weigh over 1 ton and it takes many methods and strengths of a monk to accurately ring the bell. It also has only specific times when it should be rung. This photograph is in the genre of Cultural Identity because this photo is showing and identifying something that is of a different culture.
This discussion was done with all the students in Digital Photography class in which every student took a picture of one of their favorite things and then described why it was their favorite and the compositional merits of the photo they took. My photo was a picture of a Wagashi or Japanese sweet.
Welcome to my blog, here I will post various artworks from my Digital Photography class. I will be using my Canon T3I rebel for taking pictures and I will be using multiple Adobe softwares to edit pictures and make multiple artwork. I hope you enjoy the artwork that will be posted later on in the years of 2014-2015.
