This is a picture of 3 of the many Japanese sweets called "Wagashi" that are a very complex and delicate art. I chose this as my favorite because I really like to bake for others and give other people thing that they can eat and will like or say it tastes good. Japanese sweets making is similar to baking and not only can I give it to people to eat but the art of what your creating including texture, taste, appearence, and etc are amazing. Including this is not only the art but the history of the sweets, the specific seasons specialized for the sweets, and their poetic names. The compositional merits also work for this picture because the sweets are in the main focus point as well as the plate having lines that lead you to the center and the blurred out background. |
This discussion was done with all the students in Digital Photography class in which every student took a picture of one of their favorite things and then described why it was their favorite and the compositional merits of the photo they took. My photo was a picture of a Wagashi or Japanese sweet.
