Ever since the beginning of the class we have been taught the artistic behaviors and encouraged to use and grow through using them. The artistic behaviors include the ability to create original art, develop art making skills, communicate through their works, take chances/risks, collaborate, solve problems, reflect, and have global awareness of art making. Using these, I have created many artworks. I have created original art through my 2 hands interacting artwork, developed skills through the calligraphy section, and communicated through the hunger artwork. Not only that but I have collaborated with others to make pose sketches, reflects all throughout my weebly blog, and especially took chances with my recent watercolor project.
These skills are also passed on to future projects that I have created. I develop and use These skills similarly to how I used skills in sketching and shading throughout many different project, first including the knot shading and then continuing with the hand interaction shading and the self portrait done with shading. I was able to grow in the subject of shading by learning more about it and also up using techniques of using grids and other tools in order to make the piece which were incorporated and aided me to grow. So this goes to show that these artistic behaviors through the the years have been more prominent due to my artwork.
There are also other artworks that are personally my favorites or have a connection to me in some way. My favorite artwork out of the entire year would probably include the 2 hand interaction, the calligraphy piece, and the newer water colors. This is because these ones turned out the best and were probably the most fun projects that I always looked forward to making when arriving at the class. These 3 projects were also very successful as the 2 hand interaction displayed original art and a creative scene that I had created with my own 2 hands, the calligraphy was part of Japanese culture and got me interested in calligraphy, and the water colors highly improved my skill and confidence in water coloring. The ones that have a personal connection to me as were projects like the perspective and sketch projects. These had a connection because the perspective was Japan inspired which I enjoyed making because I am fond of Japan and the culture due to being half Japanese. Not only that but the sketches were also important to me because I am currently trying to develop my own style in sketching, especially for anime drawings, and I think this projects was able to envelop and improve my skills.
So with improved art behavior through my works and reflections, I can certainly say that I became a better artist. I enjoyed almost every project we went through and I know that every single one, even if I did not enjoy it, improved some aspect of my artistic skill. The class itself was very nice and laid back which is perfect for an art class but I think we might have needed a bit more time with some projects and a little more time in the lab to finish weebly blogs. But all in all it was a very good class and these skills can be used to create art to make the world and my own life better by encouraging originality, creativity, and the developing of skills through risks.
